Apple Announces $100 Billion U.S. Investment Amid Trump Tariff Pressure
Apple Inc. will unveil plans to invest an additional $100 billion in U.S. manufacturing commitments during a WHITE House press conference with President Donald Trump. The move follows the tech giant's prior $500 billion domestic spending initiative, including a partnership to build an AI server plant in Texas.
The announcement comes as the TRUMP administration pressures Apple to shift iPhone production stateside, threatening 25% tariffs on devices manufactured abroad. New levies also loom for Indian-made goods destined for the U.S. market, where most American-bound iPhones are now assembled following Apple's post-pandemic supply chain diversification.
President Trump has repeatedly criticized Apple's overseas manufacturing strategy, notably singling out CEO Tim Cook in May over iPhone production in India. The company continues producing devices for global markets in China despite escalating trade tensions.
